"I'm going to be really unpopular for saying this about Harry, but I've always had the suspicion -- with everything that's going on -- that he might die," Radcliffe, 14, the star who plays Harry Potter in the films, said in a news conference to promote Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.
OMG, I read this in the newspaper today and the title says that Harry's fate is death! That freaked me out! Stupid Misleading headlines! Thank goodness it's only Radcliffe's personal opinion. While death is not an impossible ending for the book, I personally don't think that it is true. This may just be my wishful thinking.
For one thing, J.K. Rowling sells the book as a "children's book", and children's books don't usually end in the main character's death. While the evil villain, Lord Voldemort, is almost guaranteed a downfall, I don't believe that Harry will meet the same fate.
Also, Harry is still young. By the end of his 7th year, he will only be 17, going on 18. A death at such young age doesn't seem very likely. In addition, it may cause many young children to lose faith in their adult lives. Adults will almost certainly discourage their young children from reading the seventh book if Harry falls. Even more so, those "soccer moms" will somehow find a way to sue the author. As if Rowling doesn't already have enough lawsuits bothering her...
Economic reasons. To meet the readers' taste, I think Rowling will not write death as Harry's ultimate fate.
So far, Rowling hasn't responded to Radcliffe's comment. Previously, she has revealed that the final word of the seventh book will be "scar".
But, I don't believe that he will end up looking like Mad Eye Moody. Moody is horribly scarred!!! 1 scar on Harry's forehead is enough. He doesn't need any more "special features" on his face. Hopefully, Rowling doesn't get any
from you...
If that does happen, I think I may
.
but if she will die I will also
